Wildcats Complete Second Day at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Bethune-Cookman Bowling posted a 3-3 record on Saturday on the second day of the 2016 Columbia 300 Music City Classic at Smyrna Bowling Center. The three-day event is hosted by Vanderbilt, and admission is free to the public.

Bethune-Cookman took part in Traditional play on Saturday, competing in six matches at the Smyrna Bowling Center.

The Wildcats opened the day against No. 3 Vanderbilt, falling to the host Commodores in a tightly contested matchup, 940-845.

Bethune-Cookman bounced back with a 912-900 defeat of Mid-eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponent Howard in its next matchup. The Wildcats then took a commanding 898-673 defeat of Alabama A&M to move to 2-1 on the day.

The third win of the day came after the 75-minute intermission, as the Wildcats took down Louisiana Tech, 954-814.

The Cats fell to No. 19 Tulane in the next contest by a count of 932-819, before falling to fifth-ranked Stephen F. Austin, 905-892 in one of the most tightly contested matchups of the day.

Senior Rebecca Goodwin (Port Orange, Fla.) led the Wildcats on the day, delivering two (2) 200-plus performances, including a 242 game against Vanderbilt in the opener. She also supplied a 202 contest against Louisiana Tech.

Amyre Tensley (Detroit, Mich.) also rolled her way to a 206 game against Louisiana Tech, while Ivory Miles (Bolingbrook, Ill.) registered a game of 199 against Alabama A&M.

Twenty-two of the Top 25 teams in the latest NTCA poll are competing in Smyrna, Tennessee this weekend. That list includes the following: Adelphi, Alabama A & M, Alabama State, Bethune-Cookman, Central Missouri, Elmhurst, Fairleigh Dickinson, Felican, Florida A & M, Franklin Pierce, Howard, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Long Island-Brooklyn, Maryland-Eastern Shore, McKendree, Monmouth, Nebraska, North Carolina A & T, Prairie View, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis College, Saint Francis University, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Tulane, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Bowling continues with final day action on Sunday, March 20. Sunday's championship bracket has three Baker games in a best-of-seven format, starting at 8:30 a.m. (CST).
