DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After playing the first two and a half months of games of the 2016-17 season away from campus, basketball finally returns to Moore Gymnasium this weekend for the first true home games of the year. The gym re-opens after major renovations due to damage caused from Hurricane Matthew.
Â
Both the men's and women's basketball teams for the Wildcats have been "road warriors" to begin the year, playing their home games at nearby Embry-Riddle, Daytona State and Stetson.
Â
The Wildcats men's and women's teams host the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, January 21, with the women's team tipping off at 2 p.m. Immediately following the women's game, there will be a dedication of the new gym floor, led by B-CU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
Lynn W. Thompson.
Â
"The renovations affected volleyball and men's and women's basketball, and we had to rely on our neighbors to assist us with facilities," said Thompson. "We want to thank all of them, including Warner Christian Academy for hosting volleyball throughout the 2016 season. Now, we are finally back home."
Â
Tip-off for the women's game is at 2 p.m., followed by the court dedication, and then the men's game at 4 p.m.
