DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman women's basketball continues Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action as the Wildcats welcome Morgan State (Jan. 7) and Coppin State (Jan. 9) to Daytona Beach.
Saturday's game against the Bears will be played at 7 p.m., on the campus of Daytona State College while Monday's match-up with the Eagles will be at 5:30 p.m., on the campus of Embry Riddle.
BCU Notes
- BCU is currently 5-8 overall and 1-0 in MEAC play.
- Kailyn Williams leads the Wildcats with 11.8 points per game, while fellow senior Taylor Houston and sophomore Angel Golden add 8.4 and 8.2 respectively.
- The Williams/Houston duo also heads the Wildcats on the boards, pulling down 7.1 and 6.2 rebounds each, while Williams has blocked 45 shots on the season.
Morgan State
- The Bears own a 2-12 overall record and are 0-1 in league action.
- Braennan Farrar leads the MSU offense with 14.0 points per game while Tykrah Williams trails with 9.6 ppg.
- On the defensive end, Williams and fellow Bull City native Zuri White each pull down a team-best 5.4 rebounds per game.
Coppin State
- The 1-12 Eagles got their first win of the season on Wednesday (Jan. 4) moving them to 1-0 in MEAC play.
- Leading Coppin State, Genesis Lucas pours in 13.1 points per game while Keena Samuels added 10.5 points per contest.
- On the glass Chance Graham collects 7.4 rebounds per game.
Kailyn Williams…
- 3.75 blocks per game currently ranks third in the NCAA.
- Was named to the Stetson Hatters All-Tournament Team (Dec.19-20).
- Was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, Nov. 28.
- Posted her first double-double of the season (17 points, 13 rebounds) on Tuesday (Nov. 22) in her home state, finishing four blocks short of her season-first triple double.
Wildcat Season Facts
- Kendra Cooper joined the 1,000+ point club after a bucket in the first quarter at Prairie View on Nov. 19.
- The Wildcats were predicted to finish second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) during the preseason standings.
- Seniors Kailyn Williams and Kendra Cooper were selected to the 2016 Preseason All-MEAC First Team, while senior Taylor Houston was named to the third team.
- The reigning 2015-16 MEAC regular-season champions lost one starter/letter winner from a season ago, returning MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, Kailyn Williams.
