GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Danny Rodriguez drove in four runs, but Bethune-Cookman saw its six game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) winning streak stopped Sunday as North Carolina A&T posted a 6-5 victory in the series finale at War Memorial Stadium.
Â
The Aggies (11-11, 2-4 MEAC) capitalized on four Wildcats (17-8, 6-3 MEAC) errors and broke open a 4-4 tie with two runs in the home-half of the fifth inning.
Â
Rodriguez, who belted his second home run in as many games and fourth of the season  to give B-CU a brief 4-3 lead in the third, singled home sophomore
Josten Heron in the seventh to bring the Wildcats within a run. But that was as close as the Wildcats could get.
Â
Jameel Edney registered two hits and B-CU's other RBI on a double that preceded Rodriguez's homer in the third that helped the Wildcats erase an early 3-0 deficit. For Edney, it was his team-leading 14th double of the year – while no other player has more than eight.
Â
Donté Lindsay (2-2) took the loss.
Alexis Herrera,
Tyler Krull and
Ivan Coutinho combined for four innings of shutout relief.
Â
Bethune-Cookman returns home Tuesday, March 28, when the University of North Florida visits Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark for the first of two games between the Ospreys and Wildcats. The second game will take place a day later in Jacksonville. First pitch for Tuesday's affair is set for 6 p.m.
