JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jordan Stacy recorded his third home run of the year, while sophomore pitcher Tyler Krull went six strong innings on the mound Wednesday night, helping Bethune-Cookman defeat North Florida, 10-2 in non-conference baseball action at Harmon Stadium. With Wednesday's victory, Bethune-Cookman and UNF split the midweek series for 2017 between the two teams, as the Ospreys took last night's game in Daytona Beach.
 
For the second time in as many outings, sophomore right-hander Tyler Krull picked up a quality start, as he paced Bethune-Cookman (18-9) on the mound and set the tone for the evening.
 
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, using a Danny Rodriguez sacrifice fly to right field that crossed redshirt junior shortstop Demetrius Sims for the 1-0 advantage.
 
The lead swelled to 3-0 for BCU in the next frame.
 
After second baseman Trent Nash kicked off the inning with a single, junior Jordan Stacy registered a two-run homer clear the wall in left to increase the Wildcats lead.
 
After North Florida (18-10) brought a run back in the bottom of the inning, BCU plated another two runs in the top of the third. Stacy delivered his third and fourth RBIs of the game, respectfully, with a single to left that scored Kyle Corbin and Adonis Lao.
 
That would chase UNF starter Adam Polansky.
 
With the Maroon and Gold leading 5-1 after three innings played, the Cats used a five-run fourth inning to sprint out to an insurmountable advantage.
 
The first two runs scored when Corbin plated teammates Sims and Josten Heron with a double to the wall in left center, putting the BCU lead at 7-1. Two plays later, Rodriguez crossed Corbin with a RBI single to right, followed by Rodriguez scoring soon after courtesy an error and a wild pitch. Stacy produced a RBI groundout to third that scored Lao for the final run of the inning.
 
The Ospreys would score their final run in the seventh inning, using a Wesley Weeks sac fly to right scoring second baseman Mac Wilson from third.
 
Krull, a right-hander from West Palm Beach, Florida, allowed just the single run in scattering four hits in his six frames worked on the night. In the process, he walked one and fanned a career-high eight (8) batters. He improves his record to 3-1 on the campaign.
 
Charles Eytel and Isaak Gutierrez closed out the final three innings for the Cats on the bump.
 
The loss went to UNF starter Polansky as he went just 2.2 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk. The decision drops him to 1-2 on the year.
 
The BCU offense was paced by Stacy's 3-for-4 effort with five RBIs and a run scored. He was backed up nicely by Lao's 2-for-4 showing at the dish, as well as Heron with a 3-for-5 night and a run scored.
 
Bethune-Cookman begins a series at Liberty on Friday, March 31, at 6 p.m., in Lynchburg, Virginia.
