CLEMSON, S.C. -- Bethune-Cookman opens its 31
st season of volleyball when it travels to ACC country to meet Clemson, Lamar and Jacksonville in the Big Orange Bash.

This is the Lady Wildcats' first meeting with both Clemson and Lamar while Jacksonville leads the series 42-1.

ACC: B-CU volleyball is 0-2 lifetime against the ACC, dropping two decisions to Miami.

OPENING NIGHTS, OPENING WEEKENDS: B-CU has not won a season opener since a 2009 win against Savannah State. The Lady Wildcats swept that three-game weekend, winning another match against Savannah State and one vs. The Citadel for the last opening weekend winning record as well.

WILLIAMS ON OPENING WEEEKEND: Head Coach
Brittany Williams is 0-2 in season openers and 2-5 on opening weekend. She's 2-6 overall in August.

Interesting enough, Williams' first game as an assistant coach was at Clemson while she was at South Carolina State.

HANDY HELP: Sophomore
Alana Handy, the 2016 MEAC Co-Rookie Of The Year, ranked fifth in the MEAC in kills per set (3.34) and seventh in points per set (3.52). A three-time MEAC Rookie of the Week honoree, she recorded 10 double-doubles in kills and digs. Also, she registered a season-high 27 kills against Florida A&M and 19 digs against McNeese State.
RECORD WATCH: Senior
Rakaya Neely begins the season 51 blocks away from
Phylecia Armstrong's career of 317. Neely can crack the all-time kills list, needing 124 to pass Shakirah Hudson's 688 for 10
th.
SCOUTING CLEMSON: The Tigers were 6-26 last season, including a loss to MEAC champion Howard. Clemson has a new coach, Michaela Franklin, and seven new players.
SCOUTING LAMAR: The Cardinals were 6-22 last year. Junior Tamar Thomas is the leading returning after posting 181 kills last year.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE: The Dolphins have all but one player back from last year's 9-19 team. JU won last year's meeting 3-1.
