DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman begins Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division play with a two-match swing beginning Friday at Savannah State and concluding at South Carolina State Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats (2-7) are also looking to stop a four-match losing skid, three of the losses coming after a 20-day layoff due to Hurricane Irma.
Bethune-Cookman was 7-3 in league play last season, finishing second behind Florida A&M in the division. The Wildcats are 17-3 in MEAC play in the Brittany Williams era.
B-CU UPDATE: The Wildcats dropped a 3-1 decision at USF Tuesday night …. Freshman Jordan Jefferson registered a career-high 23 kills that also tied her for eighth on the all-time single-match kill list; she's double-doubled in all nine matches this season and is third in the MEAC in kills (3.57 per set) and eighth in digs (3.68) … Leading the MEAC are Rakaya Neely in hitting percentage (.324) and Phalen Clark in assists (10.32 per set) … Neely is also fourth in blocks (.92 per set) while Rechez Lindsay and Alana Handy are sixth and tenth in digs (3.76 and 3.4 per set, respectively) …. B-CU leads the leads in assists (12.05 per set) and blocks (2.35)
SSU UPDATE: The Tigers (2-12) picked up wins against Alabama A&M and Grambling State at the MEAC/SWAC Challenge … Jennifer Rosado and Brooke Sanford lead the offense with 59 and 56 kills, respectively.
SCSU UPDATE: The Bulldogs (1-12) broke into the win column last Saturday with a 3-2 decision vs. Norfolk State … Alexus Holt has 120 kills so far.
