Game Notes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University men's basketball concludes a three-game homestand on Saturday, Dec. 1, against FAU. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m and will be aired on the CatEye Network (click here to subscribe).

Tickets and Canned Food Drive

Please click here to purchase your tickets, including the popular "Three Throw Package" that includes a reserved seat for all men's and women's home games, and a general admission ticket for all baseball games. 

BCU is also participating in the annual Toys for Tots toy drive. An unwrapped toy is good for free admission to the upper bowl, and the combination of an unwrapped toy and five dollars is good for a seat in the lower bowl.

Starting Five

1 BCU claimed a pair of weekly MEAC honors when Malik Maitland was named the Co-Player of the Week and Cletrell Pope the Defensive Player of the Week. 

2 Maitland has posted double-figures in three-straight, including 23 vs. Stetson. He dished out eight assists in his last two games and has claimed three steals in each of his last four games. Pope pulled down 14 rebounds against Stetson, including five on the offensive end. The redshirt-junior has totaled three blocks in each of the last three games.

3 BCU just posted its second ever three-win November. Coupled with last season's 4-3 mark in the month, the Wildcats have now posted their best consecutive Novembers in program history

4 Cletrell Pope is all over the MEAC leaderboard. He paces the conferene with 16 blocks, his 2.29 average per-game, 6.71 defensive rebound average, 10.4 rebounding average, 73 total boards, and three double-doubles

5 The 'Cats lead the MEAC in rebounding average (44.34), defensive rebounding average (29.29), steals per-game (10.0), turnover margin (7.7), and field goal defense (38.6%)

Previously

Malik Maitland finished the night with 23 points and eight assists as the Wildcats bounced back from last week's loss with a solid 84-74 rivalry win over Stetson that gave Bethune-Cookman its third win in the last four meetings with its Volusia County neighbors, and for the first time victories in consecutive meetings.

Cletrell Pope double-doubled again – this time 15 points and 14 rebounds – and Soufiyane Diakite added 10 points as the Wildcats (3-4) quickly erased that 8-0 deficit and took control late in the first half.

Last Time vs. FAU

(12/2/17) Senior guard Brandon Tabb matched a season-high with 26 points to lead a second-half rally, but Bethune-Cookman University fell to Florida Atlantic, 93-75, Saturday at FAU Arena.
 
BCU (4-4) trailed by as much as 29 points at the 5:29 mark of the first half before amounting a furious rally to eventually cut the deficit to eight points in the latter period on a David Francis dunk at 8:44. 
 
Fouls played a big part in the game, as each team accumulated 15 of the personal variety in the first half, and BCU finished with 29 personals. FAU (4-3) cashed in on 29 of 42 opportunities, led by Justin Massey's 9-11 performance.

The Wildcats embark on a cross-country trip tp play three games within California next week, beginning with a 10 p.m. Eastern start against St. Mary's College.
