TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman closes out the 2017-18 regular season with a chance to finish atop the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for a third consecutive season Thursday as the Lady Wildcats meet Florida A&M at the Al Lawson Center at 6 p.m.
The Lady Wildcats (22-5 overall,14-1 MEAC) can win the regular season outright with a victory and a North Carolina A&T loss to North Carolina Central. If both B-CU and NCAT win, they'll be declared co-champions, but North Carolina A&T will have the No. 1 seed for next week's MEAC tournament in Norfolk, Va.
Bethune-Cookman can finish no lower than second, and can plan on playing next Wednesday at noon as the No. 1 seed or 2 p.m. as the No. 2 seed.
THE HISTORY STUFF: A win Thursday would give the Lady Wildcats a single-season record 23rd victory, surpassing the 1979-80 and 1983-84 teams.
CAN STILL CALL US BUTTER: While Monday's 62-55 loss to North Carolina A&T ended the Lady Wildcats' 14-game winning streak and 24-game regular season conference streak, these runs are still intact heading into Thursday:
--148 games with a 3-pointer dating back to 2013.
-- 16 consecutive road MEAC regular season games dating back to 2016.
-- 4 consecutive wins over FAMU
