DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman will be close to home this weekend, competing at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic Friday and Saturday.

The meet is Volusia County's largest of the season, featuring both high school and college student-athletes. Along with host Embry-Riddle, B-CU will go up against regional competitors such as Jacksonville, Florida Tech, Keiser, Tampa and a certain school from Tallahassee we're very familiar with (Florida A&M).

B-CU will have 54 competitors, many of whom will use the meet as an opportunity to post a qualifying time for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and NCAA in an additional event.  

WHO TO WATCH: B-CU athletes whose times/results are currently are in the top 30 in the NCAA East Region include:.

Kareem Fair, 100 meters, 23^rd (10.42)
Jordan Williams, 400, 19^th (46.99)
Jonathan Moore, 800 , 28th(1:50.56) Note: Moore will run the 400, 1500 and two relay races
Jeremiah Peters, shot put, 30^th, 56'8
Quamecha Morrison, high jump, 12^th, 5'10 Note: Morrison is running five events.
Men's 4x100 relay, 27^th, 40.48
Women's 4X100, 24^th, 44.79

In addition, Dominic Harper (pole vault), Peters (discus in addition to shot put) and Lea Tshikaya (400 hurdles) hope to improve on their MEAC-leading results.
