.@BCUSoftball Announces 2020 Schedule

Opponents Include Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Washington, BYU, Oregon and Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 2020 schedule that includes six NCAA tournament teams from 2019 was officially announced by Bethune-Cookman Head Coach Laura Watten today.

The Wildcats, who competed in their second straight NCAA tournament and 11th overall last season, will face Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Washington, BYU, Detroit Mercy and Florida during their 56-game campaign. Other prominent opponents include Purdue and Oregon, whom the Wildcats defeated last season.

"We always want to play against the best teams in the nation," said Watten, who registered her 700th career coaching victory last year against Kansas. "It prepares you for the postseason and challenges you to play at high level. We look forward to each it each year."

The two-time defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champions will open the season with four consecutives, including a west coast swing to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic taking place February 20-22 in Cathedral City, California. Oregon, Texas A&M, Washington, BYU and San Diego will be the five opponents.

"It's always an honor to play in the Mary Nutter [Collegiate Classic]," said Watten. "Obviously, we have so many student-athletes from California. And we are always the smallest school in the tournament that has so many traditional powers and top 25 programs. We take it as an honor to not only play in the tournament, but to represent Bethune-Cookman University, the MEAC and HBCUs collectively."

BCU will play 20 home games in Daytona Beach's Sunnyland Park, including the home opener against Sacred Heart on Tuesday March 3rd and MEAC home series against Norfolk State March 28-29, North Carolina Central April 10-11 and Morgan State April 25-26.

Bethune-Cookman will once again host the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament in Ormond Beach, Florida, with the annual event taking place May 8-11, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
