Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman saw a career-best start from freshman Carlos Lequerica and its staff allowed only three hits, but bats were cold in a 5-0 loss Tuesday to Jacksonville University at John Sessions Stadium.
Lequerica pitched a career-long five innings in a tough-luck loss to fall to 0-3. The Miami native gave up two hits and two runs while scattering six walks.
BCU (16-31) mustered only two hits with singles by Clarence Carter and Zach Spivey.
Reliever Nick Vigilante also pitched a season-long two innings. He allowed one hit, three runs but just one earned, with three walks and a strikeout. Jordan Delucia pitched a clean eighth with a strikeout.
JU (24-20) used seven pitchers on a staff day. Starter Nick Love garnered the win to move to 4-2 with a hit, walk, and four strikeouts in three frames.
The Dolphins had only three hits on the night.
The Wildcats continue their 16-game road trip at FIU Wednesday at 7 p.m.
