NORFOLK, Va. -- Bethune-Cookman's Cheyenne Smith was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon [April 8, 2019].

Smith, a senior outfielder from Lake Elsinore, Calif., went 8-for-12 this past week for a .667 batting average. Smith also recorded four stolen bases, while scoring eight runs and driving in a pair. In the final game against South Carolina State, Smith was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs and three stolen bases.

BCU (15-25 overall, 6-0 MEAC) is tied with Florida A&M atop the MEAC's Southern Division. The Wildcats travel to North Carolina Central for a three-game series starting Saturday.
