SAN MARCOS, Tex. – A 2-0 lead faded as Bethune-Cookman dropped the second game of its three-game series with Texas State Saturday. The Bobcats won 3-2 before 1,072 at Bobcat Ballpark.
Isaiah Ortega-Jones scored on Will Hollis' sacrifice fly in the seventh as TSU (11-4) clinched the series and handed the Wildcats (5-10) their third straight loss.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the second when
Chase DeBonis scored on
Shamir Morales' single up the middle and added a run in the fifth when
Josten Heron doubled home.
After five shutout innings,
Alec Mendez was reached in the sixth when he gave up a homer to Jaxon Williams. TSU later tied the game when Justin Thompson singled home Dalton Shuffield.
Alejandro Valiente (1-2) took the loss.
Carlos Lequerica worked 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
The series concludes Sunday.
