SAN MARCOS, Tex. – A pitcher's duel got away from Bethune-Cookman Friday as Texas Southern won 5-0 in the opening game of a three-game series.
The Bobcats (10-4) scored all their runs in the eighth as the Wildcats (5-9) suffered their second straight shutout loss.
BCU loaded the bases in the fourth.
Chase DeBonis singled,
Ryan Ayrey walked and
Enrique Porchas reached on an infield single, but all were left stranded.
In the seventh,
Shamir Morales and
Colton Olasin were at third and second with two out, but the Wildcats came up scoreless.
Olasin finished with two hits.
Isaak Gutierrez (0-1) took the loss. Starter
Nick Rogers had five shutout innings.
