Baseball Travels to No. 20 South Carolina for Series

Wildcats face SEC power South Carolina Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bethune-Cookman Baseball travels to 20th-ranked University of South Carolina this weekend for a three-game set against the Southeastern Conference (SEC) perennial power Gamecocks at Founders Park in Columbia, South Carolina. The series begins Friday, March 10, at 7 p.m.

Bethune-Cookman has never faced South Carolina in baseball, but the Wildcats are no stranger to SEC foes, with the Cats traditionally playing Florida in midweek games or NCAA Regional contests throughout the years in Gainesville, Florida. Last season, BCU traveled to LSU for a three-game series that saw the Wildcats go toe-to-toe with the 12th-ranked Tigers in the first two games of the series.

Last Time Out for Bethune-Cookman
No. 21 Florida State gave Bethune-Cookman all it could handle as the Wildcats fell, 10-1, Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium at Mike Martin Field in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Seminoles opened the night with two in the first frame off a solo homer and RBI double.

Florida State tacked on another run in the third on an RBI triple, and four in the fourth on four hits.

B-CU threatened in the top of the fourth. Hylan Hall led off with a single before he was caught stealing. Robert Moya doubled to right field and advanced to third on a fly ball, but a groundout ended the Wildcats threat.

Two more runs followed in the fifth after a pair of FSU solo shots that made it 9-0.

The Seminoles added one more in the eighth on an RBI single.

The Wildcats grabbed one run back in the top of the ninth, as Derek Cintron singled in Manny Souffrain to make it 9-1.

Seven Wildcats combined in the pitching effort. Marcos Gamboa took the loss after a two-run first inning.
