Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - An eight-run first inning set the tone as the Wildcats held on for a series sweep of Alabama A&M, Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

Â
It was an unorthodox Sunday that saw the Wildcats (25-22, 16-7 SWAC) bat as the "away" team, as B-CU was technically the away team in a makeup contest of a rainout in Hunstville last month.Â
B-CU wasted no time batting in the top of the first, scoring three runs before the first out was recorded.
Malik Stephens opened the afternoon with a triple down the left field line, followed by a
Hylan Hall hit-by-pitch. Boris Pena singled to shortstop to score Stephens for the first run of the game.
The next batter,
Robert Moya, doubled off the wall in center to make it 2-0.
Following a
Jason Hodges walk,
Jorge Braceras reached on an error that allowed Pena to score.
Jeremy Garcia's sacrifice fly made it 4-0 before back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Hall. He capitalized with a ringing double that cleared the bases to make it 8-0, B-CU.Â
The Bulldogs (12-29, 3-20 SWAC) scratched one back on some small ball with a walk and a pair of groundouts.Â
B-CU took the run back in the second as Moya came around to score again on a
Colton Olasin single.Â
AAMU enjoyed a big inning in the bottom of the second, scoring five to pull within 9-6 in a hurry.
After two quiet innings, the Wildcats added some crucial insurance runs on another Hall RBI double and an RBI single by Moya that scored two to make it 12-6.
The B-CU bats continued to work into the seventh, as a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly made it 14-6.
The Bulldogs did not quit, adding two more in the eighth and one in the ninth, but it was not enough as they fell, 14-9.Â
Hylan Hall made the start, allowing five earned runs on three hits with three walks and a strikeout in 1.1 innings.Â
Alec Mendez also pitched an inning, leaving the game with an apparent injury to his throwing hand.
Dale Michaud earned his third win of the season. He was excellent in 3.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Derrius York,
Pablo Torres, and
Yoansell Diaz rounded out the bullpen arms for the Cats on the day.Â
- Moya extended his on-base streak to 29 games.
- The win marked the 75th of Head Coach Jonathan Hernandez's career with B-CU.Â
- Hylan Hall led the Wildcats with four RBI, Moya followe dwith three, and Olasin with two.
- Pena and Moya enjoyed three-hit games, Stephens, Hall, Braceras, and Olain each had two.Â
- Stephens hit two triples in the contest.Â
The Wildcats will head down ISB for a rematch with the Stetson Hatters, Tuesday, May 9 at 6:30 in DeLand, Fla.
