DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. -  Lauren Johnson and Joel Core of B-CU track & field and B-CU baseball have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of February 17 - February 23, 2025.

Lauren Johnson had an outstanding showing to conclude the final indoor event of the track & field season at the Birmingham Invite. She finished fourth out of twenty teams in the triple jump, posting an impressive 11.65m. This is Johnson's first time earning Wildcat of the Week.

Joel Core was stellar yet again for the Cats as he poured on 12 strikeouts in just six innings against Atlantic 10 Opponent UMass. He allowed only five hits and a walk as he brought his season strikeout total to 23 in just two starts to lead all SWAC arms. His dozen strikeouts marked the first time a Wildcat had reached that mark since Nolan Santos did it on May 5, 2023..  

Each week, The Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award.

This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
