DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Wildcats will look to make it two series wins in a row as they welcome in former MEAC foe, Maryland Eastern Shore for for games this weekend at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
Game one of the four game series is set for Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. It will be followed by a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 3 p.m., and the series finale at 1 p.m. Sunday.Â

Indiana State walked 16 times and took two hit-by-pitches as the Wildcats dropped a 12-4 midweek contest, Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
B-CUÂ worked around a one-out walk in the first asÂ
Jorge Rodriguez caught a Sycamore stealing to end the inning.Â
The Wildcats immediately put two runners on with no one out in the first, both via walks. With two outs, the Wildcats loaded the bases, but a strikeout ended any threat.
Indiana State loaded the bases themselves an inning later via three walks, prompting a turn to the bullpen for B-CU.Â
Isaias Duccassee forced a weak grounder to retire the side.Â
The Sycamores put a five-spot on the board to break the scoreless tie in the fourth after a one-out triple, wild pitch , three walks, and back-to-back RBI singles.Â
B-CU took two of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth asÂ
Daniel Figueroa, who entered previosly as a defensive replacement for a banged up Darryl lee, doubled do th the line in left to score two.Â
The next inning, The Cats added two more - working around a double-play asÂ
Jorge Rodriguez doubled to left center, scoring two to make iti 5-4.Â
The Sycamores grabbed one back in the top of the sixth thanks to a B-CU fielding error that made ti 6-4.Â
Indiana State added insurance in the seventh with three runs of the B-CU pen. Five walks and a throwing error made it 9-4.Â
As the B-CU offense continued its stall, Indiana State slammed the door shut with three runs in the top of the ninth as they finished off the 12-4 run.Â
UMES is off to a 1-7 start on the season after a winless 0-48 season a year ago. They earned their first win since May 20, 2023 with a 14-7 rout of Towson in the second leg of a doubleheader on Feb. 22.
The Hawks dropped the third game of the weekend series followed by a 17-5 loss to Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday.
UMES has been outscored 42-101 on the year. They have hit .263 as a team with four homers and 38 walks to 65 strikeouts. Junior infielder Ryan Davis and junior first baseman Diego Aponte have seven RBI and 10-hits apiece.Â
On the pitching side, UMES has a team ERA of 13.19 with 83 walks to 43 strikeouts. No Hawk starter has pitched more then seven innings total on the year, including Jonah Stepner, Carter Champey, and Austin McCabe, who have started weekend contests early in the season.Â
- Sunday starter Edwin Sanchez was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week after last week's outing, in which he tossed six innings of scoreless ball, allowing five hits with a season-high nine strikeouts.
- Saturday Starter Joel Core ranks second in all of DI baseball with 23 strikeouts in two games. He was ranked as the No. 5 picher in Division I by 64Analytics.
- B-CU leads the SWAC in strikeouts as a pitching staff.Â
B-CU and UMES have previously met 55 times on the baseball diamond. The Wildcats are 54-1 against the Hawks, scoring an average of 10 runs per game in the series. The Hawks' last win over B-CU came back in 1997 by a score of 11-0.Â
