DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman Track & Field will stay local in Daytona Beach, Thursday through Saturday for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic. The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 and continue through Saturday April 5.

Last weekend, the Bethune Cookman University Track and Field team competed in Miami, Florida at the Hurricane Invitational. The Wildcats had a season high thirty-eight top ten finishes, and
Xavier Bogan topped the NCAA leader board in the long jump with a 7.70m mark.
On March 27, 2006, the Embry-Riddle Intercollegiate Athletic Department celebrated the opening of the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex. The premier track & field facility in the Peach Belt Conference, the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex has hosted numerous Sun Conference and Peach Belt Conference championship events.
The eight-lane, 400-meter track features a BSS 1000 track surface constructed by Beynon Sports. The facility, which can be fully lit, has bi-directional runways for the pole vault, long and triple jump, a high jump apron, two runways for the javelin and a water pit for the steeple chase.
Thursday will begin with multi-events beginning with the men's 100m at 12:30 p.m. followed by the long jump, shot put high jump and 400m . Starting at 1:00 p.m. is the women's heptathlon, 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m.
Friday will also begin multi-events at 9:30 a.m starting with the men's decathlon followed by the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500. The women will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the heptathlon followed by the long jump, javelin and 800m.
Running events will begin at 4:00 p.m. beginning with the women's 100 hurdles, 100m and steeplechase. The last event of the day is the men's 10,000m at 9:10 p.m.
Saturday's events will be a mixture of track & field events. The first event of the day is the women's discus beginning at 9:00 a.m. The day will conclude with the men's 4x400 at 6:00 p.m.
Last weekend, The Wildcat men were led by
Xavier Bogan who placed first in both the long jump and triple jump. His long jump mark of 7.70m was a top-five jump across all Division I Track & Field this season. His triple jump mark was 15.27m.
Shanard Walker also was impressive. Walker is now nationally ranked for his time of 20.80 in the 200m at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational. It marks the best time by any SWAC athlete this season.
