BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the second consecutive week, Bethune-Cookman outfielder Andrey Martinez has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hitter of the Week and Newcomer of the Week and starting pitcher Edwin Sanchez has been Pitcher of the Week was announced Tuesday from the conference headquarters in Birmingham, Ala. 

Andrey Martinez finished his regular season strong as the Wildcats locked up their first ever regular season title since joining the SWAC on a series win over Texas Southern. He finished the weekend 6-12 at the plate with five runs scored, seven RBI, and three homers.

Edwin Sanchez capped off his outstanding campaign with seven strong innings against Texas Southern in which he did not allow a run, scattering six hits with eight strikeouts. 

This marks weekly honors number 20, 21, 22 of the season B-CU baseball, and the fifth and sixth of the year for Martinez, who was last named Hitter of the Week on May 13. It is the seventh honor of the season for Sanchez, who was last named Pitcher of the Week and Newcomer of the Week on May 13.

The quest for their first ever SWAC title begins Wednesday, May 21 at the Wildcats face of with Texas Southern at 10 a.m. EST from Rickwood Field in Birmingham.
