BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Five student-athletes from Bethune-Cookman Football were present on the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Preseason Football First and Second Teams announced Monday, July 14, from the league office headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. The announcement comes just before the annual SWAC Football Media Day on Wednesday, July 16, also in Birmingham.
For Bethune-Cookman,
Antwone Watts (DB) earned a spot on the All-SWAC First Team Defense. On the All-SWAC Second Team Offense for the Wildcats were Cam Ransom (QB) and
Maleek Huggins (WR). The All-SWAC Second Team Defense selections for the Cats were
Adrian Hall Jr. (DL), as well as
Malik Stinnett (LB), respectively.
Antwone Watts, a 6-foot-1 safety from Columbus, Georgia, transferred to Bethune-Cookman from Louisiana-Monroe during the summer of 2024. He's earning his first preseason all-conference recognition after turning in 70 tackles (37 solo) in his first season for the Wildcats. That total allowed him to finish third on the B-CU squad in total tackles, as he went on to add two interceptions and a forced fumble as well on the campaign.
Maleek Huggins, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound redshirt junior from Bradenton, Florida, transferred to B-CU from Gardner-Webb, arriving prior to the beginning of the 2024 fall camp. Huggins would lead the squad last season with 37 receptions for 543 yards and a team-high tying three touchdowns. Additionally, he rushed for one touchdown.
Redshirt senior quarterback Cam Ransom, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Lakeland, Florida, completed his second year with the program in 2024, retaining a redshirt for the 2023 campaign. In his first true competitive season with the Maroon and Gold, Ransom passed for a team-high 1,843 yards and 11 touchdowns, going on to register 163 rushing yards and five scores on the ground. In the process, he became the fourth quarterback since 2015 to pass for at least 1,800 yards and rush for 100 in a single season.
In 2024, Adrian "AJ" Hall Jr., a 6-foott-1, 265-pound redshirt junior from Rockledge, Florida, amassed the fifth-most tackles on the Cats squad with 51 (40 assisted) from his defensive tackle position on the line. That number coincides with 4.5 tackles for loss (third-most on the team), while also pressuring the quarterback on three occasions.
After playing sparingly as a true freshman in 2023,
Malik Stinnett played in 11 games as a sophomore, finishing the season fourth on the team in total tackles (53), with two of those tackles going for loss behind the line. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound sophomore linebacker also recovered one fumble to go along with four quarterback hurries.
