First Take comes to Daytona Beach for the first time ever

BRISTOL, Conn. – For the very first time, ESPN's most-renowned sports talk show, First Take, is coming to Daytona Beach and the historic campus of Bethune-Cookman University. The on-site live show will take place inside Richard V. Moore Gymnasium on Thursday, Nov. 20.

In all, Bethune-Cookman represents one of four Historically Black College and University (HBCU) sites the signature morning debate show will visit throughout the fall, making it the network's largest fall HBCU tour to date.

Alongside Bethune-Cookman, First Take will also visit Norfolk State (August 28) in Norfolk, Virginia; the Amazon Magic City Classic presented by Coca-Cola (October 24) at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama – an annual game involving Alabama A&M and Alabama State; and Delaware State (October 29) in Dover, Delaware.

The on-site date for Bethune-Cookman takes place just two days before the Florida Blue Florida Classic between the B-CU Wildcats and Florida A&M Rattlers in Orlando.

Last year, First Take visited a total of three HBCUs – Howard, Tennessee State and Clark Atlanta (at Morehouse), respectfully.

Over the course of the past six years, First Take has been no stranger to visiting HBCU campuses, including Winston-Salem State in 2019. With Molly Qerim serving as host of the show, executive producer and commentator Stephen A. Smith is an alum of WSSU, where he played basketball for legendary head coach Clarence "Big House" Gaines.

ESPN's First Take airs weekdays from 10 a.m. – Noon ET on ESPN.
