1st Half
Bethune-Cookman (5-10, 2-0) and Grambling State (8-8, 2-1) struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, though the Wildcats maintained a narrow advantage for much of the opening half. B-CU held a 16–12 lead at the under-eight media timeout, but closed the half on a 14-4 run to push the lead to take a 74-65 lead at the half.
The Wildcats' defense set the tone, limiting Grambling State to 37.9 percent shooting while forcing nine first-half turnovers.
Making his season debut, Doctor Bradley made an immediate impact off the bench. In 10 first-half minutes, Bradley recorded two points, two rebounds, and two assists. Tyler Andrew continued his strong play from the Florida A&M game, leading Bethune-Cookman with nine points, highlighted by three made three-pointers.
2nd Half
B-CU held a comfortable advantage for the majority of the second. Grambling cut the deficit to seven with :56 seconds left, but it was too little too late.
The Cats were elite on the glass in the second, out-rebounding the Tigers 21-16 while grabbing nine offensive rebounds.
Defensively, B-CU held the Tigers to 40.7% shooting, never allowing GSU to get into any rhythm throughout the game.

The Southern Jaguars are 5-11 this season and 1-2 thus far in SWAC play. They have lost back-to-back games after their conferece-opening win against Texas Southern.
The leading scorer for Southern is Michael Jacobs. The senior guard is one of the top scorers in the country, ranking 15th in the nation with 21.3 points per game. Against Prairie View, he scored 30 points on 8-of-18 shooting. He made 14 trips to the free-throw line with only one miss.
The Jaguars have been dangerous defensively this season, ranking in the top 25 in steals per game and turnovers forced per game. They sit at 47th in fast break points, constantly looking to convert defense into offense.

This will be the 13th game in the all-time series between B-CU and Southern. The series is currenlty knotted at six wins apiece.
