1st Half
Bethune-Cookman (9-11, 6-1) and Alcorn State (3-16, 2-5) went back and forth early on, with both teams trading one-point leads during the first five minutes.
From there, the Wildcats began to build a bit of a cushion, going on a 11-5 run to take a 21-14 lead. B-CU would continue to increase the lead, finishing the half with a 14-point advantage.
Daniel Rouzan was a focal point for the Cats in the first, scoring 17 points to lead all scorers. As a team, the Wildcats shot a scorching-hot 63.3% from the field and hit four of their six three-point attempts.
2nd Half
B-CU looked like they were going to cruise to an easy win early in the second, as they went on a 17-6 run in the first eight minutes to increase the lead to 23 with 11:45 remaining.
Alcorn stormed their way back into the game, going on a 21-6 run to get within eight points at the 5:54 mark. The Braves held the Wildcats two just two made field goals during the stretch and forced five turnovers.
B-CU was able to weather the storm during the stretch run, generating enough offense to close out the win. The Wildcats went 0-for-10 from three-point range in the second half, but got to the free-throw line 20 times, making 15 of those attempts including several in the final five minutes.
Alabama State
The Hornets are 6-14 this season and 3-4 in SWAC play. They are coming off a 32-point loss on the road at Texas Southern. Their home record is 1-2 in conference.
Alabama State is led in scoring by Asjon Anderson. The senior guard is currently seventh in the SWAC in scoring, averaging just under 17 points per game. He is coming off his worst scoring output of the season, recording zero points in just sixteen minutes in their game against the Tigers.
In the SWAC, the Hornets rank in the middle of the pack in most statistical categories. One area they excel is offensive rebounds, ranking first in the league at 12.5 per game. They also rank third in blocks and fourth in steals.
Alabama A&M
The Bulldogs are presently the only SWAC team with a winning record at 11-9 and have accumulated a 4-3 SWAC record. In their most recent contest, they defeated Prairie View A&M 80-60 on the road. Alabama A&M is 1-1 at home in conference play.
The leading scorer for the Bulldogs is Kintavious Dozier. He is scoring 15.9 points per game on .442/.321/.837 shooting splits. On January 12, he scored a season-high 31 points in a 100-91 win over Jackson State.
Alabama A&M is the top ranked defense in the SWAC in points allowed per game (72.0) and field goal percentage allowed (.435). They also rank second in rebounds and number one in rebound margin.

The all-time series between the Wildcats and Hornets is currently knotted at 20 wins apiece. B-CU evened the series last season, increasing their winning streak against Alabama State to six.
Bethune-Cookman leads the series with Alabama A&M 18-9 and have one the last three contests.
