BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight week, Bethune-Cookman outside hitter Alaya Rhodes has been named SWAC Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday evening. As a team, the Wildcats have now collected three weekly awards on the season.

Alayah Rhodes once again carried the load offensively for Bethune-Cookman last week, helping lead the Wildcats to two road SWAC victories. The junior transfer was especially outstanding against Jackson State, earning her sixth double-double of the season. She matched her season-high of 21 kills while also leading the team with 15 digs.

Against her former team Mississippi Valley State, Rhodes again led the team with 12 kills and finished with eight digs in a dominant sweep.

Rhodes and the Wildcats will look to continue their hot start to SWAC play during a key matchup with Florida A&M Wednesday night. The game will begin at 6 p.m. EST.
