B-CU Set For Road Rematches Against Alcorn State and Jackson State

LORMAN, Miss. - The Wildcats will travel to Mississippi to take on Alcorn State and Jackson State with a potentially historic winning streak on the line. B-CU has won eight in a row, including wins over the Braves and Tigers at home, and will look to remain focused as postseason play approaches.

List Time Out Header 1st Half
Bethune-Cookman (13-11, 10-1) got out to an early 10-5 lead, going on an 8-2 run after trailing 5-2. Texas Southern (7-15, 5-6) quickly tied the game at 10 with 12:11 remaining.

The remainder of the half went back-and-forth, with both teams unable to generate any momentum offensively. The score was consistently within one possession, and the game was tied 31-31 at the break.

Both teams struggled from the field in the first. B-CU shot just 29.6% (8-for-27) but were able to hold the Tigers to 37.9% shooting.

The Wildcats found success from three-point range, converting on four of nine attempts. They also got to the free-throw line 14 times, converting on 11 of those opportunities.

Tyler Andrews led the Wildcats with eight points, while Bryce Roberts paced the Tigers with eight of his own.

2nd Half
Texas Southern got off to an excellent start in the second, as Bryce Roberts hit two consecutive three-pointers to give the Tigers a two-possession lead.

TSU was able to further increase its lead to 13 with 12:24  remaining in the game. The Wildcats began the half making just one of its first 10 shot attempts.

After the Tigers retook a 13-point lead with 10:21 left, the Wildcats finally got going offensively. B-CU would make seven of its next 13 shots, including three-pointers by Tyler Andrews and Jakobi Heady, as part of a 20-5 run to take a 57-55 lead.

The two teams traded leads during the final four minutes. Jaylen Wysinger made a jumper with 41 seconds to give the Tigers a three-point lead, but Arterio Morris found Seneca Willoughby in the corner for a three-pointer to tie the game.

The Wildcats were able to get the stop on the Tigers' final possession to send the game to overtime.

The two teams shot below 40% from the field in the second and combined to shoot 7-of-24 from beyond the arc.

Overtime
Texas Southern's Jordan Gorecki split a pair of free-throws to give the Tigers a one-point lead. But from there, the Wildcats completely dominated the overtime period.

B-CU went on a 9-0 scoring run to take a 73-65 lead with 1:33 remaining. Daniel Rouzan made two key baskets in the paint during the stretch.

TSU would get the score to back within five, but could not overcome its own shooting struggles, as the Wildcats closed out the victory.

As a team, the Wildcats went 4-for-4 from the floor in the extra period, while holding the Tigers to just one made field goal.

Scouting the Opponent In-Story Header
Alcorn State
The Braves are 4-7 in league play, but are coming off an eight-point win on the road against Mississippi Valley State. Alcorn State is 2-2 at home in the SWAC, but have yet to win two games in a row this season.

Alcorn receives balanced scoring with Tycen McDaniels, Shane Lancaster, and Jameel Morris all averaging in double figures in SWAC play. In B-CU's prior matchup wih the Braves, Lancaster recorded 16 points while McDaniels finished with 14.

ASU ranks toward the bottom of the league in most statistical categories. One area they excel is three-point percentage, currently sitting at number one in the SWAC

Jackson State
The Jackson State Tigers are 6-5 in the SWAC, most recently suffering a blowout loss at Arkansas - Pine Bluff. The Tigers began league play 3-0 at home, but have since lost two in a row.

Dhaeshun Ruffin continues to lead the SWAC in scoring at 23.3 points per game. The 5-10 guard has scored 30+ points in each of his last three games but was held to just 19 points at Moore Gymnasium during the first matchup.

Statistically, the Tigers rank as the worst defensive team in the league, giving up an average of 81.5 points per game. Offensively, they rank second in scoring behind only the Wildcats.
History In-Story Header
The Wildcats have won back-to-back games against Alcorn but still trail in the all-time series four games to seven.

B-CU will look for a second-straight win against the Tigers for the first time in its history. The Tigers are 7-3 against the Wildcats all-time.
