As the diamond sports near the end of the season, two of the standout Wildcats,
Sofia Vallejos-Colemann and
Michael Rodriguez, have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of April 20-26
Sofia Vallejos-Coleman, in the final weekend at Sunnyland Park, made two appearances, one being a complete game. In that complete game, she gave up only six hits, one run, and one walk. It was the only time Sofia has thrown a complete game all season. She has been a key pitcher in the circle for the Wildcats all season and will look to continue to be dominant in post season.
Michael Rodriguez, has been a true season-saver for the Wildcats. After only making 29 starts last season, he has come in and taken over the right field spot and has started over 30 games so far. In the month of April, Mikey has amassed 25 hits, 14 RBI and 10 walks. Prior to the UCF Midweek, he was on a 12 game hit streak, going all of the way back to March.
Each week, the Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award.
This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
