DAYTONA BEACH, Fla - While most of our spring teams were away, Track and Field held it down at home competing locally and crushing the competition. Two of the standout Wildcats,
Kasie Ugeh and
Jonathan Gaines, have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of March 30-April 6.
Kasie Ugeh had the best showing of her Senior season at the Embry Riddle Classic this past weekend. She had first place finishes in both the shot put (13.87M) and the discus, where she set a new program record with a 49M throw. She has been an integral part of this team through all competitions; however, this weekend she turned the heat up a notch.
Jonathan Gaines has slowly climbed the leaderboard at meets. The 6'1, Jacksonville native competed in the 400M at the Embry Riddle Classic with a time of 48.19 seconds, securing himself first place. Where the Wildcats dominated on all facets, having successful days in most events in the weekend.
Each week, the Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award.
This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
