B-CU Loses to Boston College 10-5 - BC Stays Unbeaten At 6-0
Boston College remained unbeaten in the 2009 season with a 10-5 win Friday night over Bethune-Cookman University. BC catcher Tony Sanchez was 4-5 with 5 RBI and his three-run home run in the first inning off B-CU ace Hiram Burgos was the game-winning hit as BC built up a 8-1 lead through 5 innings and never trailed in the contest.
BC is now 5-0 vs. Volusia County teams as they swept a four-game series at Stetson last weekend. B-CU drops to 3-3 on the year and Burgos is now 0-2 on the young season. Burgos pitched 4.2 innings, allowing 7 hits, 8 runs, 5 earned runs, and struck out 6 batters in the loss.
Samuel Rodriguez and Concepcion Guzman both pitched two innings of relief for the Wildcats. Freshman infielder Mark Brooks) - was 2-5 with run scoring singles in the first and ninth innings. Junior DH/OF C.J Lauriello was 2-4 with the `Cats totaling nine hits in the game.
The Wildcats will play the 8 p.m. late game Saturday night vs. Samford University in the Florida Gulf Coast University Tournament. B-CU plays host FGCU Sunday at 12 noon in the tournament finale.
