Starting pitcher Felix Machado upped his season record to 3-1 pitching 5.2 innings and reliever Andrew Tilka pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless baseball for the save - leading B-CU to a 7-4 win Sunday afternoon vs. FAMU. The win earned the Wildcats a 2-1 series win over the Rattlers in the opening MEAC season series of 2009.
The Wildcats (10-13, 2-1 MEAC) used seven stolen bases (three by Alejandro Jimenez) and six Rattler errors to score seven runs on only seven hits in the ball game. Seven different Wildcats had one hit each and RBI hits were by Emmanual Castro, C. J. Lauriello. Jairo Acevedo, and Alejandro Sanchez. Jimenez now leads the Wildcats with 15 stolen bases in 17 attempts this season.
The nine-game B-CU home stand continues Tuesday night hosting Florida International University at 6 p.m. The University of South Florida will be in Daytona Beach, Wednesday, 6 p.m. vs. the Wildcats in a week ahead with only two games after playing 20 games in a span of 33 days to open the season.
The 'Cats next MEAC coference series will be at North Carolina A & T, a three game series , April 4-5.
