Burgos, Wildcats Beat Norfolk State 7-1 In Game One

Thomas Throws Seven Hitter in Game Two 5-2 Win

GAME ONE - Burgos Perfect Game For 5.2 Innings

BCU's Hiram Burgos retired the first 17 batters of the game and pitched a two-hitter over eight innings to lead the Wildcats to a 7-1 MEAC win over Norfolk State in game one.

Burgos (4-3), struck out a career-tying best 11 batters for the third consecutive start. The first Norfolk State hit off Burgos was a home run by Spartan CF TiQuann Griffin to make the score 2-1.

Ryan Durrence staked the Wildcats to a 2-0 lead with a two-run single in the sixth inning to break open the pitching dual between Burgos and NCU's Quinn Bright.

The Wildcats scored five runs in the seventh inning to break open the contest. A two-run single by senior catcher Drew Clark and run scoring hits by Emmanuel Castro were the key hits in the five-run uprising. Three NSU errors hurt Bright's solid pitching performance.

Senior Arles Riviera pitched a scoreless ninth inning for B-CU to wrap up the 7-1 win.

GAME TWO             Box Score, B-CU 5, NSU 2

Senior right hander Eric Thomas (4-3) pitched a seven hit, two- run, seven-inning complete game to beat Norfolk State 5-2 in game two. Thomas struck out 10 batters and gave up an un-earned run in the fifth inning and one run in the 7th , getting out of a bases loaded jam to end the game.

Drew Clark a run-scoring to lead the B-CU offense.

The two teams play a single nine-inning game at 12 noon Sunday to wrap up the weekend series.
