Wildcats Lose Late Lead - FAU With Comeback 5-4 Win

The Owls of Florida Atlantic University scored two runs in the eighth inning to tie the game 4-4, and scored a run in the ninth to win 5-4.

B-CU (21-20) went ahead 4-2 into the final two innings scoring three runs in the third and one run in the sixth. The Wildcats were led by Emmanuel Castro's home run and three RBI in the second to last non-conference home game of 2009 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

Wildcat starting pitcher Joseph Munoz pitched five innings allowing 6 hits and one earned run, striking out one batter. Freshman reliever Rayan Gonzalez pitched the sixth and seventh innings striking out one and allowing no hits in two solid innings.  Senior Concepcio Guzman (0-2) took the loss in relief throwing 1.1 innings and allowing three runs in the eighth and nine innings, two on a game-tying home run by FAU's Tom Hatcher to knot the score at 4-4.

The Owls (23-16) scored in the ninth on a double and a disputed bunt single and a sac fly to go ahead 5-4. FAU closer Glen Troyanowski pitched a one-two-three ninth inning for his fifth save of the season.

The Wildcats next play Wednesday, 6 p.m. in Miami at Florida International University.
