Wildcats End Season With Back-to-Back Winning Years - First-time Ever In Division I, B-CU Goes 17-16 In Consecutive Seasons As Coach Reed Reaches Milestone 100th Win

Comeback Falls Short Against Hornets In 57-55 MEAC Quarter-Final Loss

A furious second half comeback fell a tenth of a second short as Alexander Starling's tip-in to tie it at 57-57 and force overtime, was ruled just after the final buzzer.

The Wildcats came back from 19 points down with 15:45 to play in the game on the spirited play of sophomore Albert Abrahams (10 points), and C. J. Reed (11 points). B-CU out-scored Delaware State 33-25 in the second half and held DSU to 36% shooting (8-22) in the second half. Aiding the Wildcats' comeback was hitting 17-21 free throws (81 %) in the second half (Abrahams 8-9, Starling 5-6, Reed 4-4).

"We just came a tenth of a second short," said B-CU Head Coach Cliff Reed. "Our players should hold their heads high and they had a great effort tonight, especially in the second half. It is a tough pill to swallow and to be so close - I am proud of their effort and performance. We all gave all we had to give."

Delaware State (17-11) had three players score in double figures (Frisco Sandidge 15, Jay Threatt 14, Marcus Neal 13). The Hornets led 32-22 at halftime with Neal scoring 11 of his points in the first 20 minutes, including three straight threes in a four minute stretch.
