Wildcats Sweep FAMU, Win 13-0 Sunday - Eight Straight Wins

Wildcats Winning Streak At Eight Games - Host Ohio State Monday, 3 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, Five-Game Homestand at "Jackie" This Week For B-CU

 

B-CU (12-9, 3-0 MEAC) completed its three-game weekend MEAC sweep of FAMU with a 13-0 win (7 inning mercy rule win) Sunday over the Rattlers. Junior RHP Julio Morales pitched a two-hit shutout over six innings and the Wildcats had 14 hits offensively highlighted by Matt Wright's inside the park two-run home run.

 

Matt Wright was one of five players with two hits in the game, he was 2-3 with 2 RBI. Emmanuel Castro was also 2-3 with 2 RBI, Jeremy Davis 2-4, Juan Perez 2-3 in the ball game. Senior Alejandro Jimenez had a bases loaded double knocking in three runs to close the scoring at 13-0 for the red-hot Wildcats who outscored FAMU 42-1 on the weekend.

 

Morales teamed with freshman RHP Jordan Dailey who pitched the seventh inning, for the combined shutout. The pitching staff was excellent over the three-game sweep limiting the Rattlers (4-11-1, 0-3 MEAC) to eight hits and one run in the series.

 

Wildcats Offense Among NCAA Leaders In Home Runs

B-CU has hit 35 home runs this season through 21 games (Ryan Durrence and Peter O'Brien lead the team with 7 HR each).  The Wildcats trail only New Mexico State and VMI in team home runs this year and the 'Cats eight-game winning streak has seen the team batting average rise to .336 following Sunday's 14-hit offensive performance.

 

B-CU Unbeaten 7-0 At Jackie Robinson Ballpark in 2010

 

Ohio State Monday (3 p.m.), North Florida Wednesday (6 p.m.) then Dartmouth is in for three games Thursday, Friday, Saturday to highlight a busy week of home games at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. B-CU is 7-0 at home this season with two wins over Stetson and one victory over Jacksonville University included in the stretch of wins.

 

Junior LHP Roman Lancara will be B-CU's starting pitcher Monday against the OSU Buckeyes.
