The University of Central Florida (26-14) won for the third time over B-CU this season with a 6-2 victory Wednesday night.
Three B-CU singles produced the first run of the game in the top of the first stanza. DJ Leonard singled, Jeremy Davis singled and Ryan Durrence had an RBI single scoring Leonard for the early 1-0 lead.
UCF took a 2-1 lead in the fifth off Wildcat starter Julio Morales with a two-out RBI double by Beau Taylor. The Knights' RBI leader Chris Duffy had a run-scoring single in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1. The Knights broke open the game with two unearned runs off Juan Perez in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead. UCF scored two more in the eighth to go ahead 6-2.
DJ Leonard With Four Hits For Wildcats
B-CU made it 4-2 in the seventh inning with DJ Leonard ripping two-out singles. Sanchez scored the run on Leonard's stolen base and a throwing error on UCF catcher Taylor.
Wildcat starter RHP Julio Morales (2-2) pitched 4.2 innings and limited the Knights to six hits and two earned runs. Morales struck out four, walked one and hit a batter against the high-scoring UCF lineup. Morales was relieved in the fifth by Juan Perez. Perez pitched three innings and Joseph Lopez pitched in the 8th.
The Wildcats out-hit UCF 12-11 and Ryan Durrence had three hits and Matt Wright two safeties to support Leonard's four huts.
B-CU is on the road this weekend in MEAC Conference play with a three-game series at Coppin State. The Wildcats are 9-0, leading the MEAC standings through one month of conference games.
