TAMPA, Fla. – The USF Bulls edged out the Wildcats, 1-0, in Sunday's series-closing game. Defense was tight on both sides of the field, with just a combined nine hits between the two teams. USF scored the game's lone run on an error in the fourth inning and held on to top B-CU and conclude the series at 2-2.

Scott Garner took care of business on the mound, pitching eight innings with no earned runs, no walks and four strikeouts.

In the bottom of the fourth, as a putout attempt was missed, USF left fielder Alex Mendez bowled over Emmanuel Castro en route to the plate, logging USF's sole run of the game on the error.

Tough defense on the Wildcats' side kept any additional runs off the board, but the Bulls' defense kept the 'Cats from logging a run in crunch time. Offensively, the Wildcats creted opportunities, but couldn't push through for the score.

“We went from a high to a low,” said Head Coach Mervyl Melendez of the difference between Saturday and Sunday's games, “because we didn't have a good approach at the plate, bottom line.”

The Wildcats (10-12) return to Central Florida this upcoming week, facing Stetson and Jacksonville on the road, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
