A WIN OVER FIU WOULD...
• Improve Bethune-Cookman to 3-0 all-time against FIU.
• Give Bethune-Cookman its first-ever victory over an FBS opponent.
• Improve the Wildcats' regular season winning streak to 10 games.
• Improve Brian Jenkins' Bethune-Cookman record to 30-8 overall.
• Give Bethune-Cookman its first victory in the city of Miami since 2003 (vs. FIU).
• Raise the Cats' road winning streak to five games.
STAY IN THE POLLS
• Following a win over Virginia Union, Bethune-Cookman jumped two spots in the Sports Network poll this week to No. 23. The Wildcats also jumped two spots to No. 22 in the FCS Coaches poll. This marks the sixth consecutive week B-CU has been ranked in either the Sports Network or FCS Coaches poll.
ATOP THE RANKINGS
• The Bethune-Cookman offense and defense have been firing on all cylinders this season. Nothing supports this fact more than the Wildcats being ranked first or second in 13-of-17 possible statistical categories within the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Those categories include being ranked first in scoring offense, rushing offense, scoring defense and total defense. Additionally, the Cats are ranked fourth nationally in pass efficiency defense and total defense.
NO FLY ZONE...
• Brian Jenkins has praised defensive coordinator Charles “Yogi” Jones throughout his years with the program, and this year's defense has looked as solid as ever. Through two games this year, the Wildcats defense has not allowed a single passing touchdown, and just a single score via the ground. Add two interceptions, and the secondary looks to be one of the best in FCS.
THE CARTER II
• Redshirt freshman Jontavious Carter arrived to Bethune-Cookman over the summer from the University of Miami. He did not see playing time at UMiami, but certainly made the most of his time in practice. His first two collegiate receptions as a Wildcat went for touchdowns against Virginia Union last weekend. It was the first two touchdown performance since Eddie Poole (vs. Hampton, 2011).
