DELAND, Fla. – Delicia Pierre posted 11 kills, seven digs, two blocks and two service aces in Bethune-Cookman's 3-0 (25-15,25-17,25-19) loss to Stetson Tuesday night.
Destiny Hudson added six kills for the Wildcats (1-9) while Rhea Simon and Aria Cormier added four each.
B-CU had a 12-9 first set lead on a Pierre kill, but the Hatters (8-5) tied it at 13-13 and took the set by closing it with a 10-1 run.
Stetson pulled away from a 10-10 tie with a 6-0 run in the second set. B-CU closed to 17-15, but the Hatters scored the next four points to regain control.
Freshman setter Alexas Thomas had 26 assists, while freshman libero Normarie Rolon finished with nine digs.
B-CU hosts Florida Atlantic in its home opener Wednesday at 6 p.m.
NOTES: Pierre has been in double-figure kills four straight matches ... Jill Alraud had her first career start ... Stetson has hit .333 or better in both meetings this season.
