DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University has officially announced the appointment of Juavahr Nathan as a compliance assistant within the B-CU Department of Athletics. The announcement came Monday, Sept. 22, from Director of Athletics Lynn W. Thompson.

Prior to his appointment as a compliance assistant, Nathan served the previous two years as a graduate assistant within the Office of Athletics Compliance. In his current role, he will report directly to Reggie Thomas, the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.

“Juavahr Nathan brings a new attitude and a new ambiance as far as eagerness is concerned,” stated Thomas. “He's ready to dive in and accept his role as the new compliance assistant, and I'm happy to have him as a part of my staff.”

Nathan's responsibilities will include assisting with financial aid, NCAA eligibility, as well as the day-to-day compliance operations for the Bethune-Cookman University Office of Athletics Compliance.

A native of North Charleston, South Carolina, Juavahr Nathan is the son of Patrick and Tammeria Nathan. He is a 2012 graduate of South Carolina State University, earning a degree in Physical Education/Activity Management. He excelled as a student-athlete at South Carolina State, earning four varsity letters in football as a four-year starter along the offensive line under head coach Oliver “Buddy” Pough. With the Bulldogs, he was a part of three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship football teams. He was named the 2011 SCSU Offensive MVP, and earned both All-MEAC and HBCU All-American accolades for three consecutive seasons from 2009-2011.

Most recently, Nathan finished his graduate studies at Bethune-Cookman University, earning a Master's Degree in Transformative Leadership in May 2014.
