ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF scored 10 runs on 12 hits to keep Bethune-Cookman winless on the campaign, as the Wildcats fell to the 26th-ranked Knights, 10-2, on Wednesday at Jay Bergman Field. The game was moved back a day due to inclement weather in the Central Florida area on Tuesday.

Bethune-Cookman (0-4) was unable to get a quality start from its pitching staff for the third consecutive game.

Sophomore Riley O'Brien got the nod from head coach Jason Beverlin before being pulled just 0.2 inning into the contest. The Parker, Colorado native was tagged for four runs on four hits and two walks in a very short outing.

UCF (4-0) plated four runs in the opening inning and never looked back.

James Vasquez helped score Dylan Moore from third on a sacrifice fly to left field, followed by catcher Logan Heiser's bases-loaded, two-run scoring single to left that scored Tommy Williams and Erik Barber. Earlier in the inning, Kyle Marsh drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in center fielder Derrick Salberg.

Bethune-Cookman struck back in the top-half of the third inning when redshirt senior right fielder Julian Santos registered his first home run of the year on a first pitch, leadoff shot over the right field wall.

That brought the game to within 4-1 after two-and-a-half innings played.

The Knights wasted little time answering in the home-half of the frame.

Marsh secured his second and third RBI of the game when he homered a two-run shot to left field off B-CU reliever Ivan Coutinho. That widened the Knights lead at 6-1.

After UCF increased its lead to 7-1 in the fourth inning, Bethune-Cookman grabbed a run back in the top-half of the fifth.

UCF called relief pitcher Tanner Olson out of the bullpen to start the frame.

With Julian Santos exiting the game with an injury, Bryant Munoz quickly made use of his first at-bat of the game, delivering a double to left center. He would eventually come around to score when catcher Clay Middleton used a RBI groundout to second, driving in Munoz from third.

Matt Diorio plated the last run of the game for the Knights with a single past the glove of Jordan Robinson at third base, crossing Barber to produce the final 10-2 score.

UCF's Ryan Meyer picked up the win despite tossing just three innings on the mound. He spread out two hits and allowed just the solo home run from Santos. It was the first decision of the year for the UCF right-hander.

The loss went to B-CU starter O'Brien, as the left-hander fell to 0-1 on the year in his first outing of the 2015 campaign.

Munoz led the Cats at the plate with a 2-for-3 afternoon, scoring once and collecting two putouts in the field. Four other Wildcats posted hits in the contest, including the long ball from Santos.

Meanwhile, was led by Marsh with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, scoring twice and registering three RBI. Salberg finished with an equally impressive 2-for-3 performance, scoring twice and pounding out a RBI. Tommy Williams also tallied a multi-hit game, as well as Heiser – each posting two hits apiece.

Bethune-Cookman gets back to the diamond this weekend, hosting Mercer to Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark for a three-game set in Daytona Beach. The series will serve as the first home games of the year for the Maroon and Gold of Bethune-Cookman.
