Goodwin, Norris Tabbed Student-Athletes of the Week

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Rebecca Goodwin (Bowling) and Tyler Norris (Baseball) have been selected as this week's Homewood Suites Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 9-15, 2015. This is the first Homewood Suites honor for Norris, while Goodwin is collecting her second of the year.

Rebecca Goodwin, a junior from Port Orange, Florida, transferred into the B-CU program last summer from Alabama A&M, where she bowled for two years with the Lady Bulldogs. Goodwin bowled in four traditional matches and all 10 Baker matches for Bethune-Cookman over the weekend at the 11th Annual Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt in Smyrna, Tennessee. In all, she averaged a team-leading 227.75, while producing a near season-best 268 in the win over Alabama State. In all, she accumulated three 200-plus matches, including a 237 in the victory over top-ranked Nebraska. In Baker matches, she was helpful on the final day of competition as the Wildcats too down St. Francis-Brooklyn, Saint Peter's and Howard, respectfully.

Tyler Norris, a freshman pitcher from Coral Springs, Florida, helped Bethune-Cookman solidify the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series win over North Carolina Central in Sunday's rubber match. He threw 6 2/3 innings earning the win, allowing two runs on just two hits, while striking out a season-best eight batters against three walks. His ERA for the wee was a 2.70. It was his first win as a collegiate baseball player.
