SAVANNAH, Ga.- Bethune-Cookman volleyball opened its 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference campaign cursing to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13) victory over Savannah State, Friday, Sept. 25 in Savannah Georgia.
Earning their second-straight victory, the 'Cats .337 (37-8-86) hitting percentage marked a MEAC match-high, as B-CU holds the top-two performances among the league this season.
An 8-2 run closed out the first and second sets for B-CU as the Wildcats finished with identical 25-14 victories.
A mid-set 10-0 run in the third set gave B-CU a 21-8 advantage before the 'Cats earned the 25-13 win and 3-0 sweep of the Tigers.
Offensively, senior Rhea Simon led the Wildcats with a match-best 11 kills on 20 attempts with no errors (.550), while Phylecia Armstrong and Delicia Pierre trailed with seven a piece.
Hazel Ortiz Rosado ran the B-CU offensive finishing with a match-high 17 assists while Pierre earned 11 digs, and Rakaya Neely amassed three blocks.
B-CU returns to the hardwood Sunday, Sept. 17 as the Wildcats take on South Carolina State at 2 p.m., in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
