Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Ricky Johnson scored 19 points and became Bethune-Cookman's 29th 1,000 point scorer in Monday's 62-50 victory over Morgan State in Historic Moore Gym.
The redshirt senior from Akron, Ohio reached 1,000 on a 4-point play with 4:35 remaining in the first half.
He was 6 of 10 from the field with four 3-pointers as the Wildcats (6-13, 3-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) rebounded from Saturday's loss to Coppin State by taking a 38-19 halftime lead.
Jordan Potts added 14 points, while Quinton Forrest grabbed 13 rebounds, the freshman's career high. The team had a program-record 12 blocked shots - seven from Mario Moody, his career high, and five more from LaRon Smith.
Morgan State (3-15, 1-4) was led by Rasean Simpson with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Bethune-Cookman held the Bears under 19 percent (12 of 64) from the field overall and to just 2 of 19 on 3-point attempts.
The Wildcats closed the first half on a 19-3 run to turn a three-point lead into a 38-19 advantage at the break. Morgan State trimmed the deficit to 57-48 with 5:53 left, but scored just once after that.
Johnson's jumper with 2:22 left broke a six-minute scoreless streak, Forrest hit a free throw and Potts two to push the Wildcat lead back to 14.
The Wildcats return to the road Saturday at UMES.

NOTES: Johnson finished the night at 1,010 career points, which ties him with Adrien Coleman, the last Wildcat to reach 1,000, for 28th on the all-time scoring list…He's also 10th on the all-time 3FG list (117), sixth in free throws (329) moved into a tie with Kevin Dukes for fifth in career assists (264)... Dukes also scored his 1,000th career point on MLK Day against Savannah State in 2013; Johnson is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, of which Dr. King also belonged ... The 12 blocks eclipsed the old mark of 11 against Edward Waters and Florida Southern in 1973 … Moody's seven blocks ties him with four other players for the fifth-best single game total. B-CU has beaten Morgan State twice in a row after losing nine straight.
