@BCUhoops In "The Land" To Face CSU At "The Q"

CLEVELAND ROCKS: Bethune-Cookman plays its fifth consecutive road game on Saturday, this time heading to "The Land" to meet Cleveland State at Quicken Loans Arena.

ROAD WARY: B-CU has just completed a stretch that includes five games in eight days, with four consecutive games each in of the four continental U.S. time zones. The "home" game was on Friday, November 18 in St. Augustine — 58 miles from campus due to renovations to on-campus Moore Gymnasium, followed by a game at New Mexico State 11/20, San Diego 11/22 and games in Birmingham, Ala. Against Nicholls State and Samford 11/25 and 11/26. The scorecard:

BUS MILES: 510
AIR MILES 2,439
HOTEL NIGHTS: 7
ROOM NIGHTS: 105

FULL CIRCLE: This is homecoming weekend for B-CU Head Coach Gravelle Craig, who was a stand-out point guard for the Vikings from 1991-1994. He still holds the CSU assists per game record (5.5) and was a member of the 1993 Mid-Continent Tournament Championship team and still holds the league tournament single assists record. (14)

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH OHIO, EXCEPT THE SNOW AND THE RAIN….: Bethune-Cookman recruits Ohio heavily and has strong connections to the Buckeye State, in addition to Craig:

ASSISTANT COACH RODNEY MARTIN
Toledo native, played at Tiffin

JORDAN POTTS
Played for Columbus Norland HS

ULMER MANZIE, HOUSTON SMITH
Played for Columbus Africentric HS

MEDIA CONTACT DAN RYAN
Served LDS mission in Akron and Cleveland Missions

BASEBALL COACH JASON BEVERLIN
Pitched for the Indians in 2005

BRIAN DUDLEY, DAMION COOK
Dudley played for the Browns in 1987
Cook played for the Browns in 2004

WELL, WE DID MAKE IT TO TOWER CITY ONCE: The 'Cats have been regular visitors to Ohio, playing Akron three times as well as games at Youngstown State, Kent State and Toledo during the Craig era. The team did go to Cleveland once when its flight from Akron back to Daytona Beach in 2013 was cancelled and had to wait 8 hours for another flight.

HOLDING COURT: This will be the first time since 2001 B-CU has played on a NBA court:

11/28/01    MCI Center (Washington,Georgetown) L91-61
11/8/999 MCI Center (Washington,Georgetown) L83-76
2/5/94 TD Waterhouse (Orlando, FAMU) W68-67
12/21/92 Bradley Center (Milwaukee, Marquette L89-53

While the Wildcats have no active NBA player, former 'Cat Eric Lewis is a veteran NBA official who has worked numerous games at the "Q" (The NBA doesn't track that stat). Lewis worked the Cavs' game with the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday.

KEEPING TABBS ON TABB: Junior Brandon Tabb has a string of 5 20 points games entering Saturday. A 6th would match C.J. Reed's run in 2011. Here's where Brandon ranks:

                                                        MEAC/NCAA RANKINGS
Minutes Per Game (37:15)                     3/ 8
Points Per Game (22.1)                         1/26
3FG Per Game (4)                                 1/3
Total Field Goals (62)                             1/5

MORE ON ALTIDORT: Junior point guard Jeffrey Altidort is one of four players who has registered 8 steals in a game this season. He's also atop his fair share of leader boards:

                                                        MEAC/NCAA
Assists Per Game (5.4)                             2/56
Minutes Per Game (35:52)                         5/24
Total Steals (19)                                        1/11

By playing 54 of a possible 55 minutes in the triple overtime loss to San Diego, Altidort established a new B-CU single game record. The previous record of 50 was CJ Reed in 2011 in a 2OT win vs. Hampton — Tabb matched that in the San Diego game.

AND THEY KEEP THEIR SHIRTS ON IN PUBLIC: Two B-CU's best non-Tabb scoring nights have come from players off the bench: Reggie Baker led the Wildcats with 25 points in the Kennesaw win while Diamante Lewis scored 19 at New Mexico State.

ABOUT CSU: Like the 'Cats, the Vikings (1-5) enter Saturday on a four-game losing streak.
