@BCUWBB Falls to Clemson to End 2016 Action

CLEMSON, S.C. – Bethune-Cookman women's basketball finished its non-conference slate, as the Wildcats fell 59-38 to ACC-foe, Clemson to wrap-up 2016 action Thursday, Dec. 29 in Littlejohn Coliseum.
After BCU won the tip and scored first off an Armani Walker bucket, the Tigers went on a 7-0 run, giving them the early 7-2 advantage.

The Wildcats held Clemson scoreless for 2:20, as an Angel Golden trey knotted the score at seven heading into the first media timeout (4:14).

Another Golden three out of the break put BCU back on top, 10-7.

With 28 seconds left in the first quarter, Emily Williams went to the foul line, knotting the score at 11.

Golden led all scorers with six, while Taylor Houston collected a game-best four boards in the first stanza.

After being tied at 13 for a minute of the third, Clemson used another 7-0 run to go up 20-13 heading into the second quarter timeout at the 4:45 mark.

At the end of the first half, the Tigers took a 29-17 lead into the locker room.

Golden was held scoreless during the second quarter, as Kailyn Williams pulled down six rebounds, scored two points, dished two assists and blocked one shot heading into the break while the Wildcats were outscored 18-6 in the second stanza.

After a back-and-fourth third, the Tigers used a narrow 12-11 advantage to hold onto a 41-28 lead after thirty minutes of action.

Momentum stayed in favor of Clemson during the fourth as the Tigers outscored BCU 18-10, holding onto the 59-38 victory.

Golden led the Wildcats with nine points, while Walker finished with six and Kailyn Williams collected five points, eight rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
 
Bethune-Cookman returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 4 as the Wildcats open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play on the road, at Savannah State during a 7 p.m. match-up in Savannah, Georgia.
