DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Bethune-Cookman volleyball returns to the Sunshine State as the Wildcats travel 22 miles west, facing Stetson in a mid-week match, Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., in DeLand, Florida.
 
BCU
The 1-11 Wildcats lone victory this season came at Tulane during the Allstate Sugar Bowl Tournament (Sept. 2-3). BCU took down the host Green Waves 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 30-32, 25-18, 15-10), Sept. 3.
 
Rookie Alana Handy leads the team with 2.46 kills per set, while posting three kill/dig double-doubles this season. Phylecia Armstrong set a program record with a .750 hitting percentage against Tulane, recording 15 kills with zero errors on 20 attempts giving her the second-best percentage in the nation. Armstrong ranks second on the team with 2.07 kills per set and is the team leader in hitting percentage (.284) and blocks (33).
 
STETSON
The 2-12 Hatters are currently led by Madison Akins' 3.04 kps while Eva Deisa trails with 2.07 kps.
 
On the defensive end, Marissa Salazar collects 3.55 digs per set, while Akins has earned 38 total blocks.

  • J'nai Higgins was named to the Bulldog Invitational All-Tournament Team (Sept. 17-18)
  • Alondra Bautista earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors (Sept. 5)
  • Phylecia Armstrong broke the BCU record for hitting percentage in a match after hitting .750 (15-0-20)
  • Armstrong earned All-Tournament honors at both the FAU Invitational (Aug. 26-27) and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Tournament (Sept. 2-3)
  • Alana Handy was named to the FAU All-Tournament team (Aug. 26-27)
  • Bethune-Cookman was selected as preseason favorites in the MEAC southern division
