Uriel Hernandez picks up MEAC Weekly Award

Wildcats kicker accounted for four field goals in win

NORFOLK, Va. – After a thrilling 12-9 win over South Carolina State over the weekend at Municipal Stadium, Bethune-Cookman's Uriel Hernandez was named Specialist of the Week on Monday, Oct. 15, from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Office in Norfolk, Virginia.

Uriel Hernandez, a 5-4, 209-pound junior from Homestead, Florida, provided all of the BCU scoring in the win over South Carolina State. He finished the game 4-for-5 on all field goal attempts, including three (3) field goals from 30-yards out or longer. It was the first time in the modern era that BCU has won a game without scoring an offensive touchdown. It was also the most field goals in a game since 1989, that also coming against South Carolina State.

Bethune-Cookman returns to action Saturday, Oct. 21, traveling to Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina for a key MEAC contest with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
