DELAND, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman couldn't conjure up another seven-run comeback like it did the first time it face Stetson, falling 9-2 to the Hatters Tuesday on Harry Potter Night at Melching Field.
The Hatters, who saw an 8-1 lead dissipate when the Wildcats posted a 9-8 victory on Feb. 28, stifled late potential comeback attempts by the Wildcats and managed a split of the season series.
Jameel Edney had two hits and an RBI for the Wildcats, who fell behind 6-0 after the first two innings.
Danny Rodriguez singled home
Demetrius Sims to get the Wildcats (25-21) on the board   in the third inning, but Stetson (20-25) answered with a Jorge Arenas solo homer. Stetson increased its lead to 8-1 after four.
Edney drove home
Nate Sterijevski with a double to left in the fifth, but that would be the final Wildcat run of the night.
Mike Spooner drove in three runs and Jacob Koos had three hits and scored three times for the Hatters.
T.J. Densmore took the loss for Bethune-Cookman.
Alexis Herrera worked three and two-third innings, while
Isaak Gutierrez had two innings of two-hit, shutout relief.
The Wildcats host FIU Wednesday at 4 p.m.
