NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman's
L'Dre Barnes has been selected as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Lineman of the Week as announced Monday afternoon by the league office in Norfolk, Virginia.
L'Dre Barnes, a 6-3, 305-pound offensive center for the Maroon and Gold, arrived to Daytona Beach from St. Petersburg, Florida. The redshirt sophomore helped the Wildcats offensive line block for 367 yards of total offense with 210 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He graded out at 93 percent on the afternoon in the 28-26 road win over South Carolina State in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
For BCU, it was the first win of its kind at Oliver C. Dawson "Bulldog" Stadium since 2012.
Other weekly awards from the MEAC include Howard's Jequez Ezzard being named Offensive Player of the Week, along with Morgan State's Ian McBorrough (Defensive Player of the Week), Florida A&M defensive back Herman Jackson (Rookie of the Week), as well as North Carolina A&T's Malik Wilson (Co-Specialist Player of the Week) and Howard's Faraji Joseph (Co-Specialist of the Week)
Bethune-Cookman hosts North Carolina A&T to Daytona Stadium in a key MEAC matchup on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m.
